Traction Control
TRW's Traction Control (TC) systems deliver improved traction, stability and maneuverability. Traction control combines brake and engine management to transfer power to the wheels with the best grip on the road. This system is primarily designed to assist drivers as they accelerate from a stop, and is effective on slick and icy surfaces.
Traction control independently monitors each wheel, checking to see if slipping is taking place. In the event that a wheel starts to slip, traction control automatically adjusts that wheel's speed in order to regain control of the wheel and to assist with smooth acceleration.
Figure 1
The vehicle's front left wheel starts to spin due to decreased traction. Traction control automatically adjusts that wheel's speed in order to regain control of the vehicle, allowing it to accelerate smoothly.
